Jodie – Editor
Being a born and raised Calgarian I grew up in the North West community of Thorncliffe and spent many days walking our huskies through Nose Hill Park.
I received my diploma in Business and Marketing and pursued a career in Business Management, working for over 12 years with a National Medical Clinic as the Regional Director of Western Canada.
In 2014, I left my corporate position to pursue a passion in personal development and started my own successful coaching business. I have since worked with clients from all over the world, helping them achieve fulfillment and finding their own success.
In addition to my business background, writing has always been a hobby of mine, and I have had my writing published in some of the most popular wellbeing websites including MindBodyGreen, Elephant Journal, Brazen and The Master Shift.
After establishing my career in coaching, I knew I wanted to also expand into another passion of mine; dogs. I have always had a strong affection for animals, and was curious about exploring that as a career option.
Becoming an editor first came to me years ago during a career exploration program, but I was unsure how I would incorporate that in my current field. When Sarah and I began discussing the magazine concept I realized that little nugget of inspiration was being held for just the right time.
Calgary Dog Life Publications truly is my passion project. It encompasses my love for the city, my enthusiasm for dogs and their wellbeing, and my ambition to write and to inspire.
Sarah – Creative Director
I was born and raised in British Columbia, spending most of my formative years in the West Kootenays. I was forever in the company of a beloved dog.
Always feeling drawn to live in Alberta, I embraced the opportunity to move to Calgary 11 years ago.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and have practiced as a Registered Nurse for over 13 years. During this time, I pursued my passion for photography as well, learning through both formal and self-directed avenues. Dogs were, and continue to be, a loved and natural subject of choice for me.
In addition to having my photography work published in international magazines, I have had the privilege of shooting for personal clients and companies such as Modern Dog Magazine and American Eagle Outfitters (American Beagle Outfitters).
In 2013, I left my full-time nursing position to have time to pursue creative opportunities and to also focus on energy based healthcare modalities.
Calgary Dog Life was born from a map publication I acquired in 2011 called Bark in the Park. I pursued it independently as a predominantly fundraising based concept. In 2013, I released the newly revised edition called the Calgary Dog Life Off-Leash Park Guide. By 2014, Jodie and I decided to join forces and create even bigger things together!
2017 brings the 5th edition of our park guide publication and the next exciting issues of the magazine.
I echo Jodie’s sentiments that Calgary Dog Life Publications embraces all that I am passionate about as well; My love of dogs, my appreciation for Calgary, and my vision to create beautiful, fun and inspiring products.
